Have you ever thought, ‘Why do no hemp brands combine gaming and fantasy with awesome products?'
No? Neither had we, to be honest. But, here we are...
The team here at Utokia wanted to create a world you can get lost in. A story (some of which is inspired by true events) to kick back to with a pre-roll or gummies, and a joint for your cat if you’ve got one. (a cat, not a joint.) With mysterious characters and mystical creatures. Strange elements, and odd plants. Weird places and exciting quests. All of which can be discovered by visiting this page and collecting our cards, available with the pre-roll packs and each order.
All of the collectible cards are observations written by our protagonist, Arista, that contain lore and commentary about her escapades exploring the world of Utokia. Discover her origin story below!
The Protagonist
Arista is a skilled herbalist, finding her love of natural remedies after her beloved parents, who were also herbalists, passed away. They were employed as herbal medicine researchers for the Neuro Pharma Corporation (NPC), the world’s biggest pharmaceutical company. Arista is told they died in a freak lab accident....
The Key
She attends the funeral, and, at the wake held at her parents farm, she goes outside to get some air, clutching a small figurine of a honey badger that her parents gave her when she was young, something she always held dear. As she thinks about her parents, a mysterious old man appears, and begins talking to her about them. He hands her a key, points her to the chicken coup, and then mysteriously vanishes.
The Coop
In the chicken coup, she finds a trap door hidden beneath some straw. She climbs down some steps, and into a room. Inside the room are maps of a mysterious land called Utokia, notes about a powerful ore called Utokium, and a journal. In the journal, she finds pages of notes filled with drawings of strange creatures and notes about the corrupt NPCs, who are aggressively chasing Utokium ore as a means to control the population, increase profits, and hold their monopoly on pharmaceuticals. The journal entries end with her parents deciding to destroy the research, and noting that they believe NPC is onto them. The last entry date is a week before they died.
The Portal
In a box, she finds a small, gold key, in the shape of a compass, alongside a tiny piece of Utokium and a note, telling her to combine the two. She does, and a portal opens. She packs her bag with the journal, honey badger figurine, and compass key, then steps through.
The Sidekick
She emerges into a world that looks nothing like the one we inhabit. As she goes to reach into her backpack to retrieve the journal, something leaps out, and scurries behind a tree. She peers around, slowly, to find a young honey badger, looking dazed as though it had been in hibernation for years. As it’s vision adjusts, it rubs its eyes and, to her shock, it speaks. “Hello, Arista. I’ve been waiting a long time to meet you.”
The Journal
And so, with her new sidekick, she sets off on a quest to find out more about Utokia, the ore, and what really happened to her parents.
She begins to discover different materials, many of which are listed in her parents journal. She begins to add to their notes, and document new discoveries. Occasionally, the strange, old man appears, becoming somewhat of a mentor to her, either to give her information on a plant or creature, or to relay more information about her parents.
The NPCs
But the portal she opened with the compass key remains so, and agents from NPC aren’t far behind.
Will she get the answers she’s looking for? Will she find out why this world was so important to them? And will the NPC, their agents hot on her tail, catch up to her?
All will be revealed…
